Plants

Question for the Week:
What do plants need and where do we find them?

Weekly Foundational Read-Aloud:
The Curious Garden by Peter Brown

The YouTube Link to the weekly Read-Aloud is located: HERE

Questions to ask your child in response to the read-aloud:

  • The book says that Liam didn’t feel like a gardener at first but after a while he did. Why do you think that happened?
  • Other people in the city decided to be gardeners too. Why do you think they wanted to be gardeners?

Learn at Home activity for today:

Wednesday:
 Empty Box
If available, provide an empty cardboard box big enough for your child to sit in. Invite your child to use their imagination to turn the box into something else. If desired, they could also decorate the box. Celebrate all of their ideas and engage in imaginative play with them around their ideas.

Open ended questions:
  • Who are you going to be today?
  • I wonder what would happen if ____?
  • What will you do next?
  • What do you think about ____?
  • What does that remind you of?

Continued Weekly Activity

Parents and children can find and observe a plant together. They can talk about what the plant looks like, how it smells, the way it feels etc. After observing the plant children can write or draw about it. Please email the writing / drawings to MsMcGarryCOVID19@gmail.com
