Monday, April 27th!

Updates
  • The second Learn at Home Packet is still available for pick up at the school from 9am-1pm every day this week.
  • We have been approved to use Zoom until a replacement has been recommended. Zoom Meetings will continue, starting this week.

Plants

Question for the Week:
What do plants need and where do we find them?

Weekly Foundational Read-Aloud: 
The Curious Garden by Peter Brown

Questions to ask your child in response to the read-aloud:
  • Where did the garden start growing?
  • Where did the garden spread?


Learn at Home activity for today:

Monday: 
Cook and Count 

Invite your child to prepare food with you. As you work together, count the number of items you use.

Open ended questions:
  • Why do you think we are adding ____? 
  • What would happen if ____? 
  • What do you notice as we do this? 
  • How does it smell? 
  • How does it feel? 
  • What does it look like? 
  • How does it taste? 
  • What does this remind you of?



Continued Weekly Activity

Parents and children can find and observe a plant together. They can talk about what the plant looks like, how it smells, the way it feels etc. After observing the plant children can write or draw about it. Please email the writing / drawings to MsMcGarryCOVID19@gmail.com

Scholastic Learn at Home - The website offers multiple days of content including read-alouds, movement activities, STEM activities, drawing activities, building activities, etc.  

One of the parents suggested to set up a free Zoom account and have one family member or friend teach their child something new each day via a Zoom call!
