Week of September 28th!

Students will continue to learn about friendship, families, and what it means to be part of a group.  Some of the books we will be reading this week are:
Too Many Tamales by Gary Soto
The Gingerbread Man by Catherine McCafferty
Crazy Pizza Day by Bonnie Dobkin
Hooray, a PiƱata! by Elisa Kleven

Neighborhood Song by Trish Holland

Lessons and Activities for the week:
Math – Students will play with gears, create gear boards and joins their creations with their classmate’s.
Blocks – Students will build body shapes of themselves and their friends.
Art – Children will create friends and family from play-doh.
Writing – Students will create cards for friends and family.
Science – Children will explore their fingerprints and their friend’s fingerprints with magnifying glasses.

Week of September 21st!


September Theme – All About Me

This week your children will be learning all about friendship and feelings. 
Some of the books we will be reading are:
Feelings by Aliki
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst

How Are You Peeling? Foods with Moods by Saxton Freymann and Joost Elffers

 Lessons and activities for the week: 

Blocks: Students will build themselves and their friends out of blocks.

Art: Paint or draw a picture of themselves with their friends.

Music: The Story of My Feelings, If You’re Happy and You Know It.

Science: Students will explore their fingerprints and their friend’s fingerprints with magnifying glasses.

Math:  Students will match faces portraying different emotions. 



Home to School Connection:

On Monday, September 21st, I will be sending home a Universal Handwriting book.  The work assigned is recommended and not required.

Weekly Reminders:


  1. School will be closed Friday, September 25th.
  2. On Wednesday mornings, Pre-K 4 has art class.  Please send in an old, oversized t-shirt for your child to wear over his/her clothing.

Week of September 14th - September 18th

September Theme – All About Me    

This week children will be learning all about themselves, including basic body parts, eye color, hair color, and height. 
Lessons and activities for the week:

Blocks: Students will work together to see how many blocks tall they are.

Art: Paint or draw a self-portrait.

Music: Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.

Science: Students will see how they grow by sequencing pictures (baby, child, adult).

Math: Students will create a live graph by standing on a picture of their eye color.



Weekly Reminders:
  •         Please return all signed documents given out at parent orientation.
  •       School will be closed Friday, September 25th. 
  •       UPK has full day class this Friday, September 18th. 


Home to School Connection:
  •         Encourage and help your child to identify their body parts, eye color, and hair color.
  •         Help your child to compare and contrast their eye color and hair color/ length to yours.
