Week of November 2nd!

I would like to give a HUGE Thank You to all the parents that donated to the classroom Halloween Party!  The party was a huge success and the children had quite a lot of fun.  Thank you all so much for your generosity!
I will be working on getting you all pictures of the festivities this week.

November Theme – Clothes

For the next two weeks, students will learn about clothes.  We will be discussing how to put on and take off clothes, comparing clothes, and adding clothing details to drawings.

Some of the books we will be reading are:

Something from Nothing by Phoebe Gilman
Abuela’s Weave by Omar S. Casteneda
Button, Button, Who’s Got the Button? by Hajo Bucken
A Pocket for Corduroy by Don Freeman

Lessons and activities for the week:

Art – Children will have strips of paper for children to weave in and out of paper or cardboard.
Math – Students will be able to sort buttons by size.
Pretend Play – Students will have props for setting up a clothing store.
Writing - Students will be able to draw a picture of their favorite articles of clothing.
Blocks –  Students will be able to use blocks to ‘iron’ block or ‘shine’ shoes.

Reminders:

This Friday, November 6th, UPK is in session for the full day.
