March – The Study of Buildings!
For
the next
week, students
will learn about buildings. As we
investigate this topic, we will work together to find the answers to our theme
questions. Some of the questions
include: What do buildings in our neighborhood and other places look like? Who
builds buildings? What are buildings made of?
Some
of the books we will be reading this week are:

It From A to Z by
Trish Holland
Lessons and activities for the theme:
Math – Students will have connecting
blocks to create and measure structures.
Art – Children will have access
to magazines with pictures of buildings and scissors to make collages or
play-doh to construct buildings.
Blocks – Students will be able to create
numerous types of buildings with different blocks.
Pretend Play–
Students will have construction worker clothing and props that reflect
neighborhood buildings.
Science - Students will be able to
observe sample building materials, such as, brick, wood, steel, and cinder
block with magnifying glasses.
Reminders:
•
Thursday,
March 17th, is St. Patrick’s Day. Student’s are
invited to wear green!
• There
will be an Easter / Spring Break Party in the classroom on Friday,
March 18th.
•
Easter break will begin
after dismissal on Friday, March 18th at 3:00 PM. School
will resume on Monday, April 4th.
•There
will
be no After School Program on Friday, March 18th.
