Weekly Foundational Read-Aloud:
An Orange in January by Dianna Hutts  Aston

The YouTube Link to the weekly Read-Aloud is located: HERE

Questions to ask your child in response to the read-aloud:

  • How did the boy get the orange?
  • The boy shared the orange.  Why do you think he did that?

Learn at Home activity for today:

Wednesday:

Plant Encyclopedia
Create a plant encyclopedia with pictures and names of an assortment of plants that may be familiar as well as those that may be novel to your child. Children can draw and label pictures of plants that are near the places you live or make up the food you eat. Children can also focus on other plants they find interesting.

Open ended questions:
  • Tell me about your work.
  • What did you notice about ____?
  • I notice that you ____. How did you do that?
  • What will you try next? Why?
  • How could we find out?

Continued Weekly Activity

Watch the video, Parts of a Plant, and have your child draw a picture with the different parts of a plant.  They can also practice the plant movements mentioned in the song! Please email the writing / drawings to MsMcGarryCOVID19@gmail.com

Thank you to all the students and parents that have sent me pictures of the children's work!  I will be adding more pictures as they come in!
