Babies

Question for the Week:
What do human babies need?

Weekly Foundational Read-Aloud:
Everywhere Babies by Susan Meyers

The YouTube Link to the weekly Read-Aloud is located: HERE

Questions to ask your child in response to the read-aloud:

  • When and where are babies born?
  • What are some ways babies are carried?

Learn at Home activity for today:

Monday:
Lullabies
Use the internet to search for lullabies from around the world. Invite children to relax as they listen to the lullabies.

Open ended questions:
  • I see you moving like this.
  • Let’s try playing the music loud (or soft, fast, slow).
  • How does this music make you feel?
  • Have you heard music like this before? Where?

Continued Weekly Activity
Baby Portraits:
Have your child look at a picture from when they were babies. Invite them to look at the pictures and draw or paint a picture of themselves as a baby. As children observe and consider their pictures, engage them in discussion about the details they notice in the pictures. What has changed about the way they look now compared to when they were babies? Why? What did their hair look like? Their eyes? Did they have chubby cheeks? Etc. Children who are ready can add words to their portraits. Please email a picture of any completed work to MsMcGarryCOVID19@gmail.com !

Thank you to all the students and parents that have sent me pictures of the children's work!  I will be adding more pictures as they come in!

Music / Movement Activity:

Workout to the Letter Sounds

For additional Music and Movement Activities, please look at Ms. Alma's Blog, located HERE!
