Weekly Foundational Read-Aloud:
The Vegetables We Eat by Gail Gibbons

The YouTube Link to the weekly Read-Aloud is located: HERE

Questions to ask your child in response to the read-aloud:
  • What are some things people have to do if they want to grow a vegetable garden?
  • If you were going to grow your own vegetable garden, what vegetables would you grow? Why?

Learn at Home activity for today:

Wednesday:

Family Agreements for the Home
How can we treat each other kindly at home? Come up with a list of ideas that you can all agree to. For example, “say please when you need something” or “clean up our messes when we are finished with something.” Write/draw out 3-5 simple Family Agreements and post them in a place that you and your child can easily see and access. Revisit your agreements throughout the day, noting when family members are following them well, or using them as a reminder when family members are having a hard time.

Open ended questions:
  • I notice that you ____.
  • Tell me about ____.
  • Tell me why.
  • What would happen if __?
  • How can we __?

Continued Weekly Activity

3-D Plants
Invite your child to use recycled materials such as cardboard boxes or tubes and empty, clean food containers, to create three-dimensional plants. If no recyclable materials are available, children can use play-doh.  Children can reference live plants, plastic or silk plants, or pictures of plants as they build their own plants. Encourage your child to name the plants and make their own labels for them. Please email a picture of any completed work to MsMcGarryCOVID19@gmail.com !

Thank you to all the students and parents that have sent me pictures of the children's work!  I will be adding more pictures as they come in!
